Why "Waxpaper"?

We do sell wax and we do sell paper! We don't sell wax paper! Vinyl records are the wax in Waxpaper, as DJs refer to vinyl as "wax." The paper in Waxpaper refers to our book selection. In our logo, you see side 2 of the record because we focus on those two categories online: wax + paper.

Who are you?

A former Barnes & Noble employee and a former Borders employee who, like Romeo and Juliet, overcame the rivalry of their employers and fell in love. Unlike Romeo and Juliet, we survived the incident (spoiler!) and look forward to opening a physical location of Waxpaper in the Tampa Bay area, but wanted to share our love for books and records as soon as we could! Thus, waxpaperbooks.com was born.

Why should I shop with you?

First, we upcycle products that can and should be shared. Every book and record offers enjoyment to each person who uses it, so there is no need for books or records to go to a landfill unless they are destroyed by water, heat, or a Basset Hound! Don't ask how we know about the Basset Hound situation! 

Second, we care about these products and want to share our passions with you--whether it is discussing the latest literary fiction, listening to an album collectively, or learning about your favorite books and music.

Lastly, we miss book and music stores that had so many knowledgeable employees that could recommend something new (or old). We are doing our best to bring that back on a smaller scale.  

So, is everything you sell used?

Yep! A book isn't ruined when someone reads it. A record can be played over and over. We want you to enjoy the next stage of these items' journeys through the world!

How used is it?

We only sell books that we would want on our shelves at home! If a book is missing a dustcover, has substantial writing/highlighting, is torn, is missing pages, or has sustained other damage, we won't sell it! Or if we do, it will clearly be discounted and explain how it has been damaged in the product description.

Records get a little more leeway--if a cover has suffered major wear or damage, we will still sell it to you as the music is unaffected. With records, we use a grading system (M, NM, VG+, VG, G, F) for each record and sleeve that is listed. Condition is always factored into the price.
